Legal Aid Reports
In 20 years of private practice, Keith has undertaken (ICL) Independent Children’s Lawyer-referred Family Reports, from Legal Aid Queensland and Legal Aid-funded solicitors in private practice.
Independent Children’s Lawyers are usually appointed where there is high conflict, abuse or neglect allegations, family violence allegations, concerns about mental health issues, criminality and substance-abuse matters.
ICL-referred Family Reports are undertaken in a thorough, child-focussed and timely manner, to assist ICLs in their representation of Children’s Best Interest outcomes.
Family Reports
Keith undertakes comprehensive, child-focussed and insightful privately-referred and Court-referred Family Reports for the Family and Federal Circuit Courts. They are provided in a timely manner, with a 7-10 calendar day turn-around from the date of interviews to the date of release of the report.
In the Family Report, the appointed Family Consultant considers the family’s circumstances, explores relevant issues and offers recommendations suggested to best meet children’s needs, with the best interests of children being the focus.
Keith’s reports are reflective of his many years of practice in the Family Law arena, 12 years within the Court as a counsellor, mediator, and Deputy Manager of Brisbane Registry Counselling Section, and, 20 years in private practice. Many reports actively assist in the resolution of a dispute prior to hearing.
Social Assessment Reports
Keith and Grace undertake thorough and analytical Legal Aid-funded Separate Representative, as well as, Departmentally-referred Social Assessment Reports, in a timely manner.
Social Assessments Reports are undertaken for Children’s Court Child Protection Proceedings, and are more often referred by the Court appointed children’s lawyer, known as the Separate Representative.
As SAR writers, Keith and Grace are engaged independently of the Court, the Department, parents and other parties joined to the matter, to identify and describe the circumstances of a child or children and their families, and to render recommendations to the Court about care outcomes.
Feedback from Separate Representatives has been very positive in our contribution to case management progress and Children’s Courts deliberations for child-responsive outcomes.
